What God Has Been Teaching Me Lately LXVI (66)…
Greetings My Friends~
As a simple pilgrim
following the Lord Jesus
through the rainforests and deserts of this earthly life,
I would like to humbly share
some of what God has been bubbling up in my mind/heart lately
through the Bible.
I pray that these thoughts are
cushions in your shoes,
balm to your burns,
umbrellas for the rain,
and shade to the scorching heat
as you too follow the Lord Jesus each day.

Truth For Dead Hearts Not Tickles For Itching Ears
A. The God of the Bible teaches Truth we dont agree with &
does things we dont approve of—
He doesnt compromise for our vote but pursues us for our surrender…
John 6:35-69 (especially verses 60-66)
B. The Lord Jesus quoted Exodus 3:6 & stated that
the Father said that verse directly to these Sadducees.
The Bible proclaims Truth to us personally not just generally.
The Written Word Before The Musical Melody
Christian music is like a vitamin,
a supplement to a healthy diet of deep daily Bible reading.
If we skip Bible study—the balanced meal—
& try to feed off the vitamin alone, we wont be healthy:
e.g. living each day only on Centrum.
Music gives parts of the Bible at best; we need all of the Bible.
Matthew 4:4: Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” [quoting Deuteronomy 8:3]
Jeremiah 6:10: To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me?
Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them;
they find no pleasure in it.
Leading Ourselves Into Temptation
Some temptations seek us;
maybe the greater danger is from sins we pursue & chase.
Judas went to the chief priests—they didnt go to him.
Unknown On Earth, Known In Heaven
So beautiful how the Lord Jesus honored this man
by eating the Passover meal at his house,
yet he’s unnamed.
Reality for most Christ-disciples: unknown on earth, known in heaven.
Matthew 26:18: “[Jesus] replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near.
I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’”
God’s Shoulders Thru our shoulders…
God works in us to change our desires & our actions—our growth is on His shoulders!
But as He does this our growth & maturity will show itself
by us desiring heavenly things & making obedient choices—
obedience is shown in & thru our shoulders.
We have a part to play in sanctification.
A. Heavenly Father, transform Your people
to boldly proclaim Your Truth
inside the church building &
outside as the Church Your Son is building!
1 John 1:1: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard,
which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—
this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
B. The LORD equips us
with everything we need
to do what He’s decreed (Exodus 31:6; Ephesians 1:3; Philippians 4:12-13).
Birds have wings, fish have gills, we have Him!
The Importance Of Spiritual Growth/Maturity
A. Spiritual growth doesnt increase your value to God;
it shows Him what you consider His value is to you.
Maturing thanks the LORD for new life in Christ…
John 15:8: This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
B. Part of the Holy Spirit’s work is to make us BE good, not just FEEL good.
We think He mainly gives us an experience
but He matures us to obedience—1 Peter 1:2
C. Perhaps many church-attenders have grown bored with Christ
because they havent grown in Christ.
Christianity is dull when we arent being sharpened.
D. When the LORD met with Moses face-to-face at Sinai,
it wasn’t primarily for an experience,
but for his & others’ obedience (Exodus 25:39-40).
Do You Really Want To Know…?
A. If the Bible isn’t clear to us maybe we aren’t trying to understand.
Hebrews 5:11—”…it’s hard to make it clear to you because u no longer try to understand.”
B. May God have mercy
for all the ways that we don’t see Him
because we’ve closed our own eyes…
when we don’t want to see Him.
C. We can directly attack God
or simply pay no attention to Him &
get busy with other things;
either way we’re refusing His invitation & rejecting Him.
Peace Comes From Truth, Not Treats, From Christ Not Circumstances
A. The peace of the Lord Jesus,
as well as lowering our fear/anxiety,
is directly connected to remembering the Lord Jesus’ words.
B. What is God’s peace? Knowing Him.
Numbers 6:24-26: “…the Lord make his face shine on you…
the Lord turn his face toward you & give you peace.”
C. Follow King Jesus because of His character,
not because of your circumstances,
because of what He did on Good Friday
not because He makes every Friday good.
D. God gave His people the Sabbath to observe & celebrate so they’d
know Him (Who makes them holy!) &
Help us LORD!
E. Rest from the LORD comes from the Presence of the LORD—Exodus 33:14.
Moses rested AS he led Israel not before/after.
Doing nothing isnt rest; knowing God is.
F. Don’t just settle for getting a piece of God,
or temporary peace apart from God—
get eternal peace with God thru Jesus Christ!
Be Ransomed From Captivity Before You’re Released For Activity
A. Though fingers make right movements on a keyboard,
if they start in the wrong place all that’s typed is gibberish.
We must be saved by the Lord Jesus before we serve Him.
B. Without repentant faith in Christ Jesus,
the Bible reveals humans not as imperfectly alive
but perfectly dead.
Dont just get advice from Him—get alive in Him!
C. Dont say to Jesus, “IF you are the Son of God”;
by His grace say, “SINCE You are the Son of God,
I repent, I believe, I will follow You…”
Truly Celebrating Easter
A. How do we daily celebrate the resurrection of Christ Jesus?
By living holy lives as new creations
(please see all of Romans 6 but especially verse 4:
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death
in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
we too may live a new life.”).
B. 1 Corinthians 15:58—after 57 verses on the resurrection,
God reveals one way to live out the Truth of Easter daily:
never giving up following our Savior & King!
1 Corinthians 15, especially verse 58: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.
Let nothing move you.
Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
