What God Has Been Teaching Me Lately LV (55)…
Greetings My Friends~
As a simple pilgrim following Jesus through the rainforests and deserts of this earthly life, I would like to humbly share some of what God has been bubbling up in my mind/heart lately.
I pray that these thoughts are cushions in your shoes, balm to your burns, umbrellas for the rain, and shade to the scorching heat as you too follow the Lord Jesus each day.

Old Life Vs. New Life
Caterpillars can only crawl;
once made new, they don’t–they butterfly because of their new identity!
In Christ we arent condemned crawlers but forgiven fliers!
Living For The Next World In This World
The LORD blesses His people on earth but our best life will never be now, only then.
The Best Deed
Truly Biblical and Christian good deeds are more than
temporarily meeting others’ earthly needs;
they literally introduce others to the Lord Jesus thru words & actions
so He can meet their eternal need of salvation, forgiveness & rebirth.

He Isn’t Procrastinating
Ever wonder why the Lord Jesus hasn’t returned to earth yet?
“The Lord isnt slow in keeping His promise…
Instead He’s patient with you,
not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance”—2 Peter 3:9!
Questioning Motives & The Motive Of Questions
Some asked Jesus questions so He could change them/their opinions;
others asked so they could test/tempt/trap Him & broadcast their opinions.
Which group are you in?
A Closed Circle Or An Open Horseshoe?
Knowing anyone new at church recently?
Do you hang out with/talk to the same people each week?
Cliques, like weeds, grow without us planting them, even with our best intentions.
In Suffering We Still Have Choices
In grief, may God help us to make the three choices of Psalm 13:5-6:
I trust in Your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in Your salvation.
I’ll sing the Lord’s praise.
King Jesus: help us not make a caricature of You-
cutting & pasting the Bible to be loved by You & the culture,
trying to have dual citizenship in heaven & the world.
For Many Church-Attenders,
The Call To Personal Holiness
Is Like Swallowing A Dorito Whole
The word “Holy” occurs 103x in the New Testament letters–
34x for God;
53x for Christians;
16x for other.
Is your life & faith in Jesus holy/set apart/different from the culture?
Do you stand out or blend in?
Our holiness matters…
More About Holiness
A. Ezra 6:21: For the LORD’s people to seek Him deeply,
we need to not live & believe like the culture around us.
LORD, please help us to be humbly holy, distinctly different.
B. The Lord Jesus experienced the pain of death to give us heaven;
we’ll experience the pain of growth as He brings us to heaven.
For Christians, death has lost its sting; spiritual growth hasnt.
There is no such thing as “comfortable Christianity.”

Repentance–of Sin, not must mistakes–Is Utterly Necessary
Jeremiah 3:12-13: “‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will frown on u no longer, for I am faithful…
I will not be angry forever.
Only acknowledge your guilt—you have rebelled against the Lord your God…& have not obeyed me,’
Help us Lord!
Actions Flow From Identity, Not Vice-Versa
What God does flows from Who He is, not vice-versa.
Before He “did” anything, He was still God. Psalm 90:2
Identity before activity.
In A Nutshell
It’s not ME-ianity…it’s not BLESSING-ianity…it’s not COMFORTABLE-ianity…
it’s not SUCCESS-ianity…it’s not GOOSEBUMPS FEELING-ianity…
it’s CHRIST-ianity. It’s all about Him.
Trying To Have The Lord Jesus Without The Bible
“To whom can I speak & give warning?…
Their ears are closed…
The word of the Lord is offensive to them;
they find no pleasure in it”–Jeremiah 6:10
Help us, LORD, to enjoy & agree with & obey & take pleasure in the Bible!
Many Ways To Reject The Lord Jesus
A. You can chase the Lord Jesus off your lawn with a gun
or simply not answer the door when He knocks;
Both choices lead to same end–rejecting the Lord Jesus (Matthew 8:28-34, esp. 34).
B. You dont have to explicitly hate Jesus to reject Him & forfeit His forgiveness;
you can simply choose to politely not welcome Him (Luke 9:52-53).
Stains cant be cleaned by what is less dirty–only by what is truly clean.
Jesus’ Clean is cleaner than our dirt is dirty! Isaiah 1:18
Only His perfectness, and not our so-called good deeds, can truly forgive us & get us to heaven.
Cleaning with filthy rags doesn’t remove the stain but only spreads it more (Isaiah 64:5-7).
