Sonnet: “Of Reasoned Disbelief What Can Be Said?”…

Of reasoned disbelief what can be said?
Or placing faith in space’s cyclic slide
Our love of scienced tools hath raised the dead
In reason, though, our faithful hearts hath died

And further what doth pass for Heaven’s gold?
Our Father’s kingdom our minds hath betrayed
Devalued, thus, our hearts to proof we’ve sold
Eternity, our finite sword hath slayed

And fin’lly, what of God’s implicit foe?
The Devil, lost to sight, yet in our chest
The slith’ring serpent seeks from depths below
Salvation from our souls he hopes to wrest

Thus Satan’s greatest trick be mirrored smoke
Though seeing not, we know our eyes can choke
