Written To My Dear Wife On Her 23rd Birthday…
Fair Queen, what might I state to weight thy crown?
For thy hath garnered gold and rubies rare
What could be writ to further thy renown?
Since beauty thine be swept by Western air
What more could such a man as I present?
To such a gifted present at this time
The priceless things of earth thy worth lament
Considering thy natβral glow sublime
But to thee, nonetheless, my horn to sound
I raise, to blow a note of purest pitch;
And on my exhaled breath such love is found,
Returning back to thee who made it rich
Alas, there none is left to still implore,
But take this heart, in love, forevermore
(Written to my dear wife Sarah for her birthday, circa October 2003)
